Startup Weekend is the biggest hackathon in the Peel Region. A celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit, we engage everyone from high school innovators, corporate weekend warriors, to academia and the public sector to pitch their innovative ideas.

Supported by mentors and advisors, participants will have the opportunity to generate ideas, to form teams (Friday), build a prototype (Saturday) and then pitch to a panel of judges and investors (Sunday). Over an immersive 54-hours, participants will have the opportunity to meet mentors, gain exposure to new skills sets in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate leadership.

PLAN . LAUNCH . BUILD

Are you ready to jump into the startup world? Here’s your opportunity to transform your ideas into actions in 54-hours. Find the right people with complementary skills, the passion and dedication to build a startup quickly and efficiently. Test your idea with real potential customers, and win prizes that will help you take your startup idea to the next level of execution!

We’re looking for passionate educators, parents, students, entrepreneurs, developers, and designers who want to make to make a difference through entrepreneurship now. Come learn the basics of founding and launching a successful startup while solving real problems for real people.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?

Lots of energy! You’ll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. You can come with friends, but you’ll get the full experience if you participate in separate teams. Remember, it’s all about the team.

The idea you pitch and the problem you set out to solve can span social, educational, financial, environmental, or other issues. Over the course of the weekend you’ll be challenged to create a prototype of your MVP, or minimum viable product that fits the needs of your target customer. You will also get feedback, iterate, and likely pivot your approach entirely! Important: You cannot have worked previously on your idea.

STARTUP WEEKEND IS A FULL WEEKEND LONG EXPERIENCE

Your ticket includes:

  • 7 full (and delicious) meals over the course of the weekend
  • Benefits and discounts from our global partners
  • One-on-one time with amazing mentors
  • A new network of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs eager like you to change the world.
  • All the internet and coffee you can consume.
